Tsukumogami are artifact spirits in Japanese folklore. These objects gain souls and come to life after a century of existence. Originally feared as powerful beings, they later became playful poltergeists, indulging in pranks and mischief out of boredom or sorrow. How a tsukumogami behaves reflects its care during the first 100 years. Neglected objects may haunt their owners, while cherished ones remain loyal.
