The “Sarugami” is a monkey god. A long time ago, monkeys were worshipped as gods in parts of Japan. They were regarded as messengers and servants of the sun and were worshipped especially by farmers. With the changing times and new technologies this belief was lost. From then on, Sarugami are only depicted as vicious monsters who kidnap young women and annoy the farmers. They seem to exist only to be struck down by brave warriors. But what if they only act that way because they are bored because their destiny has been lost by man.
